Outdoor Range to Close

After over 20 years at our outdoor range on the Surrey / Berkshire border we are sad to announce the range will be closing in August 2023 following the sale of site.

The Club is actively looking for a new site for 2024. In the meantime will will continue with indoor archery at the Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley.

We will provide more details here when we have them.

Thank You.

We are extermely grateful to Janis and Robin Bayley for their kind donations of two bows and associated archery equipment. The kit will be put to good use as loan progression equipment for our beginners as they come off their intial training and gain more experience.

The Club frostbite season got off to a great start on Sunday 4th November with over 20 archers taking part in the first round of the Surrey Postal League.

This year we have entered 3 Recurve teams (2 senior and one junior) and a compound team. The teams consist of the top archers each month. For November the teams and scores were:

Senior Recurve B

Adrian Murnaghan278
Tanya Tooley271
Paul Tooley344
John Galloway291

The Junior Recurve team will shoot their entry at the Junior Squad session on Sunday 11th November.

Scarlett – Junior Master Bowman

Scarlett, one of our Junior Squad has recently achieved the coveted Junior Master Bowman archery Classification. This is the highest standard available for Junior archers.

To achieve the classification means competing successfully in a series of UK and World Record Status open shoots around the country. In the last three months she has won Gold at the Surrey and Middlesex Junior championships and at Andover Archers ‘Saxon’ open shoot.

Competing at the Archery GB Junior National Open Championships weekend at Lilleshall earlier this month Scarlett came fourth in the Metric V category and fifth in the Bristol V – a great achievement.

Along the way she has also collected a ‘Six Gold End’ award, The Red Junior Rose award, a Black AGB Arrow award and the Purple Cross from the English Archery Federation.

Junior Squad success at Lintman Junior Open Shoot

The Lintman Junior Squad enjoyed a successful day’s shooting at our home event the Lintman Junior Open shoot on the 19th May.

Scarlett won the overall Ladies Recurve competition, with a tremendous score of 839 for her round out of a maximum 864. Molly also won Gold in the Ladies Beginner’s recurve.

Six of the Club’s juniors took part in event and all came away with an award!  Rhys took Silver in the Short Junior Western and the ‘Black’ Colour prize, Emily the Blue colour prize and Grace the ‘Worst White’ award.

Our team of Scarlett, Molly, Rhys and Emma won Silver in the Team event, our best result for a number of years.

This year’s event had over 70 entries from across the Southern Counties.

Lintman Welcomes Surrey Junior Developement Squad

On Sunday 15th April Lintman is hosting a session of the Surrey Junior Development Squad on our training range.

Run by coaches from the County of Surrey Archery Association, the development squad runs each winter for junior archers across Surrey to experience regular structured coaching and training in a fun environment.

William Tell Fun Shoot Rescheduled

Due to the heavy snow and the weather outlook for this weekend we have decided to postpone our popular William Tell fun shoot until Sunday 11th March.

For this fun shoot we recreate the legend of William Tell with apples balanced on heads as targets. The only concession is we use mannequins to support the apples rather than people!
The event will start with a briefing at 09:45 followed by the shoot at 10:00. It should last no longer than an hour.
The event is not a scored competition but we will be presenting the coveted Lintman William Tell Trophy to the winning archer. The format will be explained on the day. The shoot is open to Lintman members of all ability levels from novice to Bowman.
We hope to see as many members as possible for this rearranged fun shoot.

Year End Classifications and Handicaps Published

Classification BadgesThe final archer classifications for 2017 have been published and are available on the Club Records and Handicaps page.
Congratulations to the 15 members who have achieved a new classification during the year and especially to our Club Chairman, Michael Roper who achieved the highest handicap improvement in 2017 – lowering his Compound Handicap from 62 down to 37.
Also updated are the Club Records, the Frostbite and Portsmouth Leagues, the year end outdoor handicaps and the starting handicaps and classifications for the 2018 season.
The Club recognises the following bow types for records purposes:-
Recurve – Recurve (Freestyle) bows as defined by AGB Rule 202
Barebow – Recurve Barebow as defined by AGB Rule 204
Longbow – as defined by AGB Rule 206
Compound – Compound (Unlimited) as defined by AGB Rule 207
Flight – Conventional Flight Bow as defined by AGB Rule 211
Please note that starting handicaps and classifications for the new season may be different from the previous year end position. At the start of each season classifications and handicaps are reassessed based on the three best qualifying scores of the previous season. During the season handicaps are reduced on a rolling basis as the average of the current handicap and latest score. This means that the year end handicap is influenced by the sequence of scores shot through the season and the starting handicap brought forward from the previous year.
If you have any queries on your own classification or handicap please speak to or email our Records Officer, Lindsey Roberts (email: records@lintmanarchery.org ).
